exploring marrakech

As my university experience comes to an end, I thought it would be great to embark on a quick trip to the dusty city of Marrakech, it has been on my bucket list. This quick city break would involve wondering around this cultural unusual city. With more time, I would have wanted to take a trip to the mountains or ride camels in the desert, but due to the lack of planning on my part, it will mean another trip.

I stayed at a lovely Riad, which was less than 5 minutes from the main square. The Riad Jnane Mogador was great, they organised a shuttle for us from the airport and provided breakfast every morning, with a Moroccan style pancake with eggs. After buying, a whole new wardrobe that would cover my elbows and knees, remain comfortable in the heat. I was able to take lots of photos of the city and people in their natural surroundings following “maps.me”.

Marrakech is a maze, with people constantly yelling and swirling with fast mopeds and the odd mule. Taxis are too large to fit through the streets and mainly stick to the large, modernised areas. This beautiful and mysterious city holds hidden gems on every corner, which most people look over. On the first afternoon, we retired to one of the cafe’s above the square and tucked into some sorbet, which was needed in the heat.
